Trying to install Gummi Latex Editor

I'm trying to install the gummi latex editor. When it tries to install texlive-latex-extra the install fails with the following error message:

E: /var/cache/apt/archives/texlive-latex-extra_2009-7ubuntu3_all.deb: error creating directory `./usr/share/texmf-texlive/fonts/type1/hoekwater/manfnt'

I tried deleting the folder hoekwater with the following command: sudo rm -rf ./hoekwater/, but get the following error "rm: cannot remove directory `./hoekwater': Input/output error"

Any ideas on how to fix this?
